MDF Doors

Why Choose MDF for Paint-Grade Perfection

Built to Install Cleanly—Consistent Reveals, Faster Trim

We install a hinge block (see picture) in the core of our doors so hinge screws won’t pull out the way they can with lesser quality composite doors. And our MDF pocket doors are among the only ones on the market to include an engineered block (1” x 3 1/2”) that runs the length of the door to prevent warping.

Doors come pre-sanded and primed on all sides with a high-build primer. They require only light sanding before painting to remove any oils and marks from handling.

MDF Door Construction—What Matters

Engineered Faces:

Dense, uniform substrate that machines cleanly for knife-true profiles and sharp corners.

Stable Rails & Stiles:

Engineered cores help reduce seasonal movement, keeping paint lines crisp after HVAC startup.

Edge Integrity:

We prep edges to finish-ready grit, reducing primer soak and ensuring smooth, even coats.

MDF vs. Wood— How to Decide

FAQs

Both. Slabs are available, but pre-hung MDF doors significantly reduce install time and improve reveal consistency.

Absolutely—ask about 1-lite to multi-lite patterns with clear or privacy glass.

Standard and tall options; 1-3/8″ and 1-3/4″ are common. We’ll advise on hinge upgrades for taller or heavier units.
